Finished Measurements approximately 19” from folded cuff to toe
Yarn
Lantern Moon/Leigh Radford Silk Gelato Mini (100%
silk) 10 yards/9.2 meters; 3 balls, color Vanilla; Blue
Sky Alpaca Bulky (50% alpaca, 50% wool) 45 yards/41
meters; 3 skeins, color 1004/Polar Bear.
Needles
US size 15 (10 mm) dpn, adjust needle size to obtain
correct gauge
Gauge
10 sts/13 rows = 4” (10 cm) alpaca bulky
CUFF
With Silk Gelato CO 28 sts. Distribute evenly
among 4 dpn. Join work, being careful not to twist
your sts. Work Rev St st each round (purl each rnd)
until work measures approx. 3”. Knit one round.
LEG
Change to Blue Sky Bulky and work in St st (knit each
rnd), increasing 4 sts evenly on first row (32 sts). Work
even until leg measures 10" (from bottom of cuff).
HEEL
Knit across 8 sts. Turn work and purl across 16 sts.
Place rem sts on spare needle or st holder. (Total
heel sts: 16).
Row 1 (RS): *Sl 1 pwise (wyib), k1; rep from *
Row 2 (WS): Sl 1 pwise (wyif), p to end
Work rows 1 and 2 8x. (16 rows—8 selvedge sts)
Turn Heel:
Row 1 (RS): Knit across 10 sts, ssk, k1 turn
Row 2 (WS): Sl 1 pwise, p5, p2tog, p1 turn
Row 3: Sl1 pwise, K to 1 st before gap, ssk (1 st from
each side of gap) k1, turn
Row 4: Sl1 pwise, P to 1 st before gap, p2tog (1 st
from each side of gap) p 1, turn
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all heel sts have been
worked ending with WS row and ending p2tog.
10 sts rem. Heel Gusset
Knit across heel sts and with same dpn (needle 1),
pick up and knit 8 sts along selvedge edge of heel
flap; w/another dpn (needle 2) work instep sts and
with another dpn (needle 3) pick up and knit 8 sts
along other side of heel and knit across half (5 sts)
of heel sts.The round now begins at center back.
FOOT
Round 1: K to last 3 sts on needle 1, k2tog, k1; k
across instep sts on needle 2, at beg of needle 3, k1,
ssk, k to end.
Round 2: Knit all sts.
Rep rounds 1 and 2 until 32 sts rem.
Work even in St st until foot measures approx. 6"
from back heel.
TOE SHAPING
Work 2 rounds even in St st.
Round 1: (needle 1) k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1; (needle 2)
k1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1; (needle 3) k1, ssk,
k to end.
Round 2: Knit all sts.
Rep rnds 1 and 2 until 16 sts rem.
Rep rnd 1 only
until 8 sts rem. Graft toe sts using Kitchner St.
FINISHING
Fold cuff over leg (RS of st st is face up).
I-Cord Loop: With Silk Gelato and dpn pick up and
knit 2 sts at the back of the cuff. *Hold the needle
with the sts in your left hand, slide the sts to the
right end of the dpn and bring the yarn around the
back of the work. Using a second dpn, knit the sts
pulling the yarn from the left to right for the first st;
do not turn. (After a few rows a tubular shape will
become apparent). Repeat from * until I-Cord is
approx. 6" or desired length. Cut Silk Gelato leaving
approx. 6" tail. Slip tail through 2 sts and pull snug.
Thread tail onto tapestry needle and sew end to top
of cuff to create a loop.
Sew in loose ends and block to measurements.
